Paint safe for pet bed fabric?

Donna Byram on May 28, 2014You can use just regular Plaid Folk art craft paint with Plaid textile medium mixed with it. It will withstand washing. Another brand is Apple Barrel. You can purchase these usually at Walmart and Hobby Lobby. I think after the first washing it would be safe for pets.Helpful Reply

Hortonica H on May 29, 2014unless it says "non-toxic" and "BPA free" on the label, it isn't safe for pets... Pets are a lot more likely to lick or chew something like that than a child would be so you have to take it to a higher safety standard than you would for your average 6 year old. I definitely wouldn't use a regular craft paint without reading more about it.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on May 29, 2014Read the label on the small bottles paint you find in craft stores that people use to paint on T-shirts, etc. if humans can tolerate it, so can pets.Helpful Reply

Z on May 29, 2014I'm not sure if this is machine washable, but here's a link of how to DIY safe pet paints. I'd still ask your vet as I'm sure you wouldn't want to harm your precious dog for the sake of a cute pet bed. http://www.ehow.com/how_5241036_make-own-petsafe-paint.htmlHelpful Reply

Sandra Fiffy on May 29, 2014@Alicia Good-Coveyou Shabby Paints brand chalk acrylic paint is fabulous for fabric. It's 100% safe for pets, babies, pregnant women and those with sensitivities. No voc and every ingredient comes from the USA. I've painted jeans with it and then have been washed and dried in the dryer over and over.Helpful Reply
