REPURPOSING VINTAGE CONTAINERS

I came across these container plantings at a local flea market and antique show.
Containers without proper drainage holes are not the best choice for plants over the long haul, but what fun would these vintage containers be filled with pansies for a summer party or event.
To keep your container plantings going as long as possible, line your container with heavy plastic such as a drop cloth or heavy duty garbage bag. Add an inch or so of fine pea gravel to the bottom of the container and then fill the rest with good quality top soil. Then add your pansies and you have a cute, cheerful arrangement for your summer barbecue, party or event.
