Simple Fireplace Update

by Offtract
We needed to update our unattractive fireplace without spending too much money. With a little labor and some paint, we made quite a change from our old fireplace to the new...
The brick that we had was faux painted, so it wasn't the cool-looking old brick we wanted. It was too costly for us to removed so we decided to "hide" it by painting it white.

We did, however, rip out the wood panneling and brick strips on the upper part of the fireplace. It was a pretty gross process- I called it the mouse pinata! Yuck.
To decorate, I added some painted frames around free -standing statues. If you want to see more of this update and other cool ideas, check out the Offtract blog!

I will, but it will probably be a while! HA! I have a couple of varnishing/paining projects that are delayed because it rains about every other day! The humidity is too high right now so I guess I will have to wait a while.

Looks good, but I liked the herring bone wood, bet it would’ve looked good with the white.
