How to hang beadboard

Can I apply beadboard directly over paneling. If so, what is the process? Thanks so much!

    Wash paneling down. be sure to use good paint and pant brushes. use a slanted pnt brush to paint into grooves If you dont want grooves to show, use spackel to fill the grooves.

    Yes you can. use finishing nails to match bead board. Be careful nailing, you don't wa nt nails showing, And ask which nail will not split split the bead board.

    It depends on whether or not it's adhered to cement walls. If they are, you might have to find a fixative glue that will hold it up. I not, use finishing nails and caulk to fill in the nail holes.
  • Can you please tell us what type of bead-board? is it panelized, loose, or? Shoot does it slide into a groves on the rails & molding? What is the shape of the existing paneling - is it wavy, straight, or... In short the answer is probably not unless there is something behind it to really act as a backer - don't also forget that any product will expand & contract so make sure you allow for that, whether using nails, adhesive or a combination.

    Yes, use brads and decorative trim to finish.
