I have a small porch area where I want to grow vegetables in containers... I have seedlings growing of plants requiring different depths and have ordered a standing table/container for shallow plants like lettuce and herbs... there's plenty of sun!

Washington State has a guide to growing vegetables in containers that answers just about every question you could have. Check it out here: http://county.wsu.edu/king/gardening/mg/factsheets/Fact%20Sheets/Container%20Vegetable%20Gardens.pdf

I have all of my tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets and containers. They are doing very well, but my plan is to put them out front with 6 hrs of sun as soon as the nights warm up. I did this last year and had a great success, except it was hard to get to my front door. Right now I cover some of them with a blanket cover during the night, and the others go back into my greenhouse. I use a great fertilizer once a week called "Tiger Bloom", and I swear by it for all my plants.
