Supplies
Wooden letters (and decorative trim like the heart!)
Acrylic paint (white, pink, red, glitter…go crazy!)
Paintbrushes
Twine
Hot glue gun
Start by painting your letters. I used a mix of patterns, but simple enough that my perfectionist tendencies wouldn’t be overwhelmed. The striped “L” was definitely the most difficult in terms of precision – painting the white first, then pink using tape, and then the darkest color red using tape. It literally pains me to show you this close-up, but in real life on the door no one is paying this close attention.
The “O” I kept simple by painting red, and then used the decorative heart shape with a simple stitching “trim” painted on. The heart was attached with the hot glue gun.

The dots on the “V” were made using a stencil brush with stiff bristles, but you could also use the eraser of a pencil dipped in the paint.
The “E” was painted red, and then got an extra layer of glitter for pizzazz.

The wooden letters soak up the paint fairly quickly so you may need to go back for a second coat of base color before adding your designs. Once everything is dry, I used the twine to tie the letters together. To make it all hang (relatively) straight, I hot-glued the twine into place on the back.

Don’t forget to make yourself a hanger by looping twine at the top!
