I love painted furniture and I love old chippy paint but on these guys I love thier true beauty! And it was hidden under a thick coat of paint! I truly hate striping paint not only does it smell but it is soo messy! And these guys have so many cracks, and crevices. I didn't want to damage them by trying to scrape off the paint. I read once about how to remove paint from them in a magazine years ago so I decided to give it a try and you can see for yourself how gorgeous they are now!
Sexy Door Hardware
This is what they looked like before all painted over. Who does this?
Painted Vintage Hardware
All you need is an old crockpot filled with some water and a drop of dishsoap. Wait a couple of hours and voila! The paint falls off, these guys practically striped themselves!

Did I miss whether we are to turn the crock pot on or just using the ceramic bowl for soaking? Thank you

I did this with an old saucepan on low heat on stove. Pulled out with pliers and rinsed. Not a speck of paint on them
