It's weird like the leaves grow in a single file... Does anyone know what type of Lily? Also there were two growing together but in two different directions. I thought I would dig one up and face it in the same direction as the other, but when I saw what I had done it looked like I cut it right off of the host stem or something and there were no roots whatsoever. I stuck it in the ground anyway in another location. It was then that I noticed the one I had cut away had a bloom on it. Had I seen that before I started digging (my eyes are very bad) I would have left it alone.

Day lilies are super hearty. The one you broke off will root. They don't have typical "roots" as in stringy things but its more like a bulb.
