DIY Privacy Fence

What kind of long lasting, weather resistant material can be woven into an existing chain link fence to turn it into a privacy fence? I try to upcycle. My first thought is to cut my empty, plastic bags of dog food into strips, connecting them at the ends, then weave. Appreciate any suggestions!!

If you have access to grape vines or young tree branches, they can be woven between the links for a rustic and very charming fence

I agree, we often have woven willow fences here in the West. You can create interesting patterns using freshly cut willow branches that will dry to a hardwood form. Spraying it with a wood oil every year or so will preserve it for many years.
