Oh, I do hope the part arrives sooner than expected Lynne. I recommend cleaning the inside and all the seals with a baking soda paste, rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. You might even want to use a fan, facing the open fridge, to help it dry completely. Make sure the doors are left open at all times.
  • I use bathroom cleaner -i like the smell pots it's a disinfectant. Leave it open too. If not as Becky says make sure it's dry.

when we turn off our fridge at our cottage in the fall, prop the doors open and place fresh coffee grinds inside and it will keep the smell out, plus coffee smells great; good luck

once fridge is cleaned, take a couple cotton balls or paper towels made into a ball and pour one to two drops of vanilla extract on them. It doesn't take much and close the door, it will remove odors and the vanilla smell goes away pretty quick. This is also a good idea for cleaning out coolers. It has worked for me when trying everything to get fish odors out of a cooler.

Clean it and prop the doors open. This is what we do in empty apartments.

I've Deodorized A shrimpy smelling fridge by wiping with white vinegar followed by baking soda paste, then wadded newspaper stuffed on all shelves. Also I keep a tin pie pan with charcoal briquettes ( just plain not the ones with lighter fluid) in our camper fridges.
