A Whitewashed Farmhouse Chair

I purchased this great vintage chair and loved the farmhouse feel to it. I thought it needed some lightening up but didn't want to cover it in paint. I went with a wash of Annie Sloan's chalk paint in the color Old Ochre. I lightened it up without losing the character of the piece. I have a tutorial on my blog on how to add a wash.
Here is the chair prior to the wash. Pretty dark and heavy looking.
Now it is lighter and really adds charm to any room.
The details were basically hidden in the dark wood but the wash brought them out.
I also added the wash to the original rush seat. Again, lightening it up without creating a hard, painted surface that would crack on the rush seating.
I think it now would look great in any beach house, rustic kitchen or a porch.
