My bathroom is small and there is no window so its very dark. I hate the color of the tile-beige.
I wonder if you can paint the glazed tile?

I believe you can paint tile, I've seen it done before. Just make sure to sand it a bit first for better adhesion, and use a good primer. For a small space, I'd recommend a light color to open it up. We just repainted the plaster walls in our small bathroom and we used a white hue - it definitely helps bounce the light around (check out my recent Hometalk post for more details). Good luck!

I agree with "Rather", definately a light or white. I'd go a step further and paint the wood accents/basket a bright color to liven it up and give it some color and character, Kim!

PS. Never under estimate the great effects and ease of a $5 can of spray paint! I've worked miracles!

agree with Rather Square- sand the tile for better adhesion and use a good primer- ask at your local Sherwin/williams or other paint experts the correct one to use.. then using a good satin paint cover it with one or two layers..If the tile is on the lower part of room, I would use a darker color and then paint the upper part of the room with a pale form of the color used below.. As a salesperson for a local decorater we did quite a few small bathrooms as this area is older and back in the 40's when baths were being installed they used a small closet or a corner of a bedroom to make the baths (my own house had a bathroom 6 x 6.. you sat on the stool, put your feet in the tub and head in the sink and had enough room left to open the 28 inch door) but we found that using a darker tile on the bottom and the same color only in a lighter tint seemed to enlarge the room...try it...

There are paints specific for painting tile. Just go to one of the big box home improvement stores and ask.

I wouldn't bother with the tile. that's your neutral .Do the room in spa colors. Beautiful lite aqua on walls. Pop with orange & Lime green . Or Lilac ,pop of yellow, turquoise, line. Idea select a picture you love ,that you'd hang in bathroom. select 3 colors off the picture. I'd spend $3.00 an get sample color first . Get rid of the natural wood items in there. Paint vanity if you can't buy white one.

If you determined to paint the tile, either go with a kit or the right primer. Personally, I'd do as Cindie said and leave the tiles as they are and paint the walls a pretty light color. Maybe one of the colors shown at the link below. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_duMGNLrx4Ew/S_0t9CAMEGI/AAAAAAAAATg/gk6UqR6be6c/s1600/sea+glass.jpg

While I have never painted tile or re-glazed it, I have seen many posts that states it does not last more than a few years. If it has to be removed before re-re-glazing, you might want to not do this and put your efforts into updating in different ways. Framing out the mirror would be a great update. Paint the walls in an almost white grey, the shelf black, frame the mirror in black and paint the basket red. Then add red towels as accent! Classic decor!

Paint the walls a pale teal or aqua, frame the mirror and paint the framing white. Then rid yourself of the 'hollywood lights' and put some modern/vintage reproduction lights in pewter. Leave the beige to ground the room. Paint the shelves over the toilet white and believe it or not, I would actually use a stain glass window kit and paint the stripes on the shower doors a crisp Caribbean Green. Hang bright white towels with a thin orange or teal ribbon stripe along the bottom

First I would toss the wood shelf and light fixture and paint the room white. Then I would install simpler glass shelves with chrome supports and a chrome light fixture -- both available at all home centers. Glass will let light through and take up less visual space. Keeping to one finish-- in this case chrome- to match your existing fixtures instead of adding wood to the mix will make the space seem bigger and less cluttered.

Love the aqua paint idea and keeping the tiles as they are. What about removing that glass shower door? Put up a rod and curtains instead?
