I want to replace the 2 counter outlets in my kitchen with GFI outlets. Is there any special procedure for these, or are they installed the same as regular ones???

Believe they are installed the same way. Here's a website to read up on installing them. http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/article/0,,216665,00.html

    Thanks Donna!
  • Debra, I applaud DIY'ers for having the interest and motivation to want to learn and do things themselves. Having said that, unless you are experienced working around electrical systems, I recommend you get a pro to install your new GFCI outlets. They aren't the same as regular outlets and can be wired to provide ground-vault protection to just that outlet or all the outlets "downstream" of that outlet. Depending on the age of your house, the circuit could already be protected by a GFI breaker in the main panel.
