Chalkboard Handle Cutting Board

Taking a plain but functional object like this cutting board and upgrading or personalizing it makes for a great gift.
I took a simple cutting board and added a swipe of paint, some ribbon and some foodie items for something truly personalized and unique. Now it's also pretty enough to be put on display.
The first step is easy. Lightly sand then mark off with painter's tape the area to be painted. Using a foam brush, apply the first layer of paint and allow to dry approximately half an hour. Apply a second coat of paint and remove the painter's tape before the paint dries.
Next I took advantage of the pre-drilled hole and added some co-ordinating ribbon. Use the chalkboard area to write a short message or caption, add a monogram or other image.
Include some foodie items along with the cutting board to make a beautiful and unique gift. Kitchen linens, paper goods for entertaining or a cookbook would all be great additions. If you don't recongnize this cute little cutting board...hop over to the blog to find out where you can find one, and also to get free printables and instructions for the gifts I included.
