The Little Crate, That Morphed Into a Table... With 2 Secrets

My outdoor pallet sofa needed a table of some sort. But... I mean, what goes with pallet furniture?!
Of course! Crates! So I hauled out a little crate I had in my stash, and set about making it into a table of sorts.
But one thing lead to another and it became so much more...
Needing a table for my pallet sofa, a little crate that morphed into a coffee table was the perfect solution! (find more on the sofa in my Hometalk profile)
I chose the little crate I had in my stash... but how on earth could I top it? Hmmm...
I totally didn't know if this would work... nothing like wingin' it! A square frame was created out of pallet wood, that fit inside the crate.
Finding some boards that would be suitable for the top, quirky features were celebrated, rather than hidden, such as the wood stampings and knot holes. The boards were attached to the frame, so the top became a 'lid'.
Secret If I desired to raise the height of the table top for a dinner plate, all I'd need to do is give the top a little twist!
Secret By attaching handles to the lid, the top became a tray. How handy will this be for the summer months?!
Coffee, anyone?
