Woodworking Lathe

Whitley WoodWorks
by Whitley WoodWorks
This is my woodworking Lathe made from Recycled Materials
Just over 2 years old and still going strong
I Have always wanted to build a lathe so I thought lets do it :)
The Bed of the Lathe is made from spare pressure treated posts I had in the workshop and the rails are hard wood from some old louvre doors..
The tail stock rotating center is made from a cut down chuck of a router..
Head stock Assembly is made from an Old drill press I had under my work bench just doing nothing :)
The tool rest is from an old pine dresser and the under neath of the main plate that sits on the rails has had two channels routed out and then I added two strips of mild steel plat bar...
These are the first two Pieces I turned on this lathe... and the rest of the Pictures are other projects done on this Lathe...

Lovely woodworking idea! So inspiring! 😍

While YouTube is great for finding information on woodworking and how to start your first project—finding simple to follow, step-by-step woodworking plans is something I rarely find in YouTube videos.

If anyone is looking for dimensional plans that lay out the entire process of a project—piece by piece and step-by-step—I highly recommend Ted’s Woodworking Guide that consist of 16,000 woodworking plans. Here's a link to his site.

It’s an excellent guide with thousands of plans that go into detail about how to complete various projects.

I believe it costs around $60-70, but the content within is well worth the price.

Me and my hubby can't recommend it enough. Good luck! 🙂

This is the best thing I've seen all week. Highly inspiring and impressive! You should get this story published by some blog. Will help a lot of aspiring woodworkers who can't spare the bucks to buy expensive equipment.

This needs to be out there! It's a lovely achievement. You should try reaching out to woodyman.

    Kudos!
