Replacing glass pendant light shades

Hi I am trying to replace the glass shades on my pendant lights and am having a hard time figuring out what size I need to buy. The website I have found that has the shade I want says the opening and the fitter are 3/4" the one I have has a larger hole than that but it also has a ring that fits under the shade and screws onto the pendant that is about that size.

Here's great information on how to measure for replacement glass globes. Make sure to watch the video on this link. http://lampglass.nu/measure.html

I converted my can lights in my kitchen to pendant lights, but after living with the glass shades for awhile, I decided that due to their shape, they do not give off enough light, so I am going to try another idea I saw on another site, and use small colanders - was hoping that video would help me figure out what size hole I need to cut in the bottoms of the colanders. I will be using the existing plastic fitters that screw into the pendant to give the bulb a place to screw into. Guess I will wait until I take one down and then measure and do my cutting.

I removed the shade and socket collar when changing the bulb in my pendant light; now I can't get the shade ring to line up and tighten. Any ideas?
