Need homemade Cleaner for carpet stains

I am trying to get traffic pattern stains, and more out of an old carpet. Carpet is very light in color and everything shows.

If it's a light tan I would use Peroxide. I've found it works better than Vinegar and baking soda. Plus if it's an old animal stain it will take care of it also. Just make sure it won't fade it. I used it on my tan carpet that I had in the previous house and the light gray I have now and it's fine.

We too have a light tan carpet, can't wait to replace it! Anyway, found a great product that works really well. Works best when applied soon after the stain has appeared but also works good on old stains. It's called Folex from Lowes. We have a very light carpet on the stairs and they get so dirty. I just get a rag with the water not tightly squeezed out of it and rub and rub. Of course it is just soiled and not a lot of stains like you get with kids.
