DIY Grain Sack Ottoman Using Drop Cloth and Chalk Paint

Are you in love with the grain sack trend as much as I am? I can't afford to buy those beautiful vintage grain sacks, so I've been making my own using painters' drop cloth, painters' tape and chalk paint.
Painters' drop cloth is my upholstery fabric of choice lately. It can look elegant as in the French Provincial chair or rustic like this ottoman.
This ottoman frame was bought already stripped of it's padding and fabric. A bonus for me! I painted the legs using ASCP Graphite.
After adding a couple layers of foam, it was time to paint the fabric. Measuring six inches in from each edge, I used painters' tape and marked off a 1" wide strip before painting ASCP Graphite onto the fabric. Using a foam brush for this works really well. Just be sure to dab it into the fabric for complete coverage. Wait till the paint dries about 20 minutes and then remove the tape. Repeat the process for the thinner stripes.
I used a flat upholstery trim in a natural colour to keep with the rustic theme. And instead of pleating and folding the corners, I just gathered them for a more informal look.
