What did you clean it with? I would try after cleaning to get a microfiber towel and just plain water and polish the stove top with that cloth. That should do the trick for you!
  • sounds like the igniter got wet. wait to dry and try or you can try and blow out with compressed air if you have a can to remove any debris and/or water from cleaning

Open a paper clip and clean out the inside of the center of the burner. It happens to me all the time from using soft scrub or comet.

many people have answered you need to dry it. We had a used appliance store and I always used air compressor. Give it time to dry.
  • Good ideas already given but it is very important if you removed any of the burner elements such as the "sealed burner cap", burner element, etc. that you align them the same way as you took them off, there are air gaps that may be difficult to see that must be present at the ignitor to allow for proper gas and air flow. Also make sure that you do not mix the burners around, though it should not be the case often times the tolerances are close enough that the spark gap is increased enough that the gap will not be breached causing ignition.

It was they we got it wet. When it dried it was fine. We didn't take off anything that wasn't loose.
