What is the best way to seed a slope with grass?

Gets approx. 7 hours of sun and the soil isn't too bad. The slope is about 50 yards long and about 12 feet from top to bottom. Oh and I'm poor!

First of all, I certainly wouldn't buy the cheapest grass seed on the shelf just because of budget. Cheap seed usually has a high percentage of annual rye, which will come up like gangbusters and look great and then die out over the winter and you'll be back where you started next spring. The good news is that mid-August to mid-September is probably the best time of year for seeding grass in Michigan. Check out this publication from Michigan State Extension, which tells you everything you need to know, including how to deal with a slope. http://www.oakgov.com/msu/Documents/publications/e2910_new_lawn_seed.pdf

Sometimes you just have to spend a little money or it costs a lot more later! Good luck!
