A local metal recycler gets road signs that are being replaced. Found one that wasn't used for target practice and still had character. Took it to a friend and had him weld a base for me and voilà a table!
SSCCRREECCHH!
Since welding isn't in my bag of tricks, a friend of mine helped me. I knew I wanted it 24"tall. He used 2" metal tubing for the center and then welded 1"x2"x1'at both ends in a cross.
Using the existing holes on the sign, he secured it to one of the ends of the stand with metal screws.
Then to make it so the sign wouldn't flex when you grabbed ahold of it to move it, he used pop rivets to finish securing it to the top.
You can see where the screws and the rivets are.
To clean the base up after being welded, I wiped it down with rubbing alcohol.

Thanks Hannah! I've added more pictures to show you what I did. The big part was having a friend who was a welder make the base and then went above and beyond by securing it to base.
