Mini Drop Cloth Rosette Stool Makeover {$5 Yard Sale Find}

I have a fun makeover to share today! If you have recently suffered severe hot glue burn trauma to your fingertips, then you will really appreciate this post. I found this stool for $5 a couple of weeks ago at a yard sale. I liked the chair height of it and of course, the price. I had dreamed up the most wonderful plan in my head, but when carried out, went terribly wrong. My plan was derailed, but the result is just what this little stool needed!
This stool started out like this, far from beautiful:
My plan to reimagine it did NOT do it any favors. BIG fail! I used Transfer Artists Paper (TAP), but it does not work well on wood! (Trust me on this one.)
SO I hatched another plan. I cut out some batting and a little drop cloth like so:
...and ironed another image using the TAP, onto the drop cloth. Perfection! It works wonderfully on fabric:
Then I used a staple gun to attach it to the underside:
Next I made a bazillion miniature drop cloth rosettes, hot gluing as I went. (There is a full tutorial for these on my blog at the link below.)
I hot glued them in place and my stool makeover was complete! I mentioned in my post this may have cost me the ability to be identified by my fingerprints.
I love the touch of whimsy the rosettes add...
The graphic transferred so nicely.
The legs were painted with Miss Mustard Seed milk paint in Ironstone.
Overall I'd say this fail was a success! Hope you enjoyed this fun makeover!
