Leah Johnson on Jun 30, 2014yes the solution of Murphy's Oil soap and then the white vinegar water to rinse should do it... It may take a bit of scrubbing but both these items are just great for cleaning up old flooring--including wood...Helpful Reply

Joyce Galloway Parker on Jun 30, 2014You can also try a Mr. Clean magic eraser on them. It will require scrubbing on your hands and knees, but I've seen them remove stains when nothing else would. And they have no chemicals, odors, etc. either; they use just plain water.Helpful Reply

Carol on Jul 01, 2014In the "old" days, back in the 70's I can remember using ammonia or a cleaner with ammonia , to really clean it and strip the old wax. Re-waxing would be so rewarding, because it would really look brand new.Helpful Reply

Amanda Eastman on Jul 01, 2014Ok, I tried the Ammonia, scrubbed really hard with a scrub brush and then used an old towel to wipe up the grunge. It worked pretty well. I was only able to do 1/3 of the floor since I am 34 weeks along with my 4th baby and the belly is hard to work. I hope to get the other 2/3 done before I have to move everything back in! I will try the magic erasers around the edges, since they were hard to get with the brush, and then I will look into sealing the floor. Thanks you!Helpful Reply
