Gardening: Flower bed to handle full Florida sun?

I am redoing the sod in my back yard and am thinking of putting in a flower bed next to the brick wall at the edge of my yard. It gets hot Florida sun all day and I am not sure what ...»
flowers to put in it to survive the heat? They will have to be drought tolerant too as we can't water except once a week. I hope all you green thumbs can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

I only fertalized once since planting it there in MAy? It has plenty of green but underneath ...»
it seems to have yellow leaves more- I am guessing due to the shade from the sun- or could be too much water? I will post a picture when I get home to take one tomorrow. Thanks for all the advice and I will keep looking for a bloom. I don't think I have any bunnies that I have seen- I live in the city so not much wildlife except the lizards and a few black racers.

Gardening: I have just moved to the Pa mountains.

We have built a log home. Our landscaping is rugged and impossible to dig. I need some ideas for rock gardens. I can bring in soil to do some planting. We were told not to plant too ...»
close to the home because of insects but I need something to give it a little charm. I was also informed the deer eat most plants. I added some photos of our front. Keep in mind winters are harsh!

    Marie- ...»

I would say not St Augustine- it is very fickle and weeeds love to take it over- and takes lots of water. Bahia is more resistant to weeds and need little water. It comes in seed and sod so whatever works for you. Call a local landscaping company for more ideas- and maybe they will come over and evaluate for free!
