Antique Family Dresser Gets A New Lease On Life

A had a local friend contact me about redoing her Grannie's dresser. I was so touched that she entrusted me with this task! The dresser had seen better days. It had started out in a farm house, complete with a wire bottom to keep the mice out. I kept that on--you just can't take something so unique away!
The dresser looks like it could just use a bit of refinishing initially when you look at it, but this isn't stain. It is a paint that was meant to look like stain. The hardware was also painted over.
My friend chose this green color that is a custom mix from 3 Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint colors. It was made to match her bedding. She wanted a fun pop of color, but not an overbearing green.
I love the way Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint crackles. It amazes me every time.
Here you can see where the paint has naturally chipped away. Also the detail of the hardware is apparent now (freed from layers of paint!). The dresser is protected with Miss Mustard Seed White Wax. If you'd like more info on the colors, how I cleaned the paint off of the hardware and my friends reaction, be sure to check out my blog post.

I LOVE the way this piece turned out. Very fresh and chic! (To those who have something negative to say. . .please don't! This obviously is not an antique and probably wasn't worth more than $20-$30 as it was. With the new finish, it has a new life and is really stunning!)
