How old would you say this Windsor chair is?

It has two rungs on the bottom which makes we wonder about its origin.... any suggestions / thoughts are welcome from you experts on HomeTalk! :)

You can buy these style chairs today, what makes you think it's ' old'. Have you had it over 50 yrs? Is there a set of 4 and the table?

All my chairs have 2 rungs each side around. And I bought a set this style in 1984.

All my chairs I was referring to that have 2 rungs are my ladder back chairs. I looked at the Windsor set and see there is only 1 so that interested me to look in a chair making book and saw the Windsors are made with an 'H' pattern and do not have 2 stretchers around, therefore I'm guessing the chair pictured was custom made to suit someone's fancy, I like it!

This is a very nice chair. If you love it, treasure it! I have the most stunning old chair called a "Fiddle Back Chair". It is a very glossy mahogany much like this one but it has two thinner spindles in the back. I have had it almost 50 years and it was considered "old" when I got it. Hey, HT is a place to come to get info on a lot of pieces.

Tana that is very true. Here you can ask any question and not worry about feeling silly for asking it

Hi Tana, There was a time in (60's and 70's) when this type of chair was popular for the "country" style kitchen. I think it is a pretty standard style that's been around for a long time. Are there any maker marks on the bottom of the seat? It's pretty, very solid chair though regardless of the age.

@Tana, Little Red Bag Productions Oh yes…a long way off! :-) I wonder if they are made of maple? I remember seeing a set of 4 chairs and a lovely little round table with nice turned legs that was made with maple. The legs of the table sort of angled out a bit from the top.
