I've Added to My Glass Globe Collection and Have Some New Totems!

Somewhat Quirky

The original glass towers I made to summers ago generated a lot of response and questions. I've added a bit to my collection and made another post with an updated tutorial. The original Hometalk post is here: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/garden/my-glass-tower-vision-has-been-fulfilled-i-built-it-451169
One of the things I've changed is that I added flowers in the pots I used as a base for the towers.
I have enough for 3 towers now and that makes me really happy!
The new tutorial starts from the ground up.
This is how you set up the pots that keep the center rebar vertically level.
I don't do this in all of my pots, but this one is very large and I wanted to add some stability.
The flowers are added after the tower bases are secure in the pot.
I accidentally ended up with a piece of 1/2 or 5/8 inch rebar. It was easier to work with, but the lamp pieces are not designed to work with such a large piece. I had to do a lot of redrilling of the lamp pieces that I use to build the towers. It also limited which glass pieces I could use.
Use your largest, heaviest piece at the bottom of the tower. Between each globe you need a lamp part to connect the two pieces.
Keep alternating lamp parts and globes, matching large openings to appropriate sized lamp parts and small hole to small hole.
Stack em up till your done! At the top of the tower either use a solid topped globe or cover with decorative lamp parts like I did with the smaller tower.
Now I can see them as I walk out the door and in the back of the yard as well. I encourage you to check out the blog post for more pictures and tips.
