Can anyone tell me what this weed is?

These vine weeds are wrapped around the trees and have actually broken 2 in half. They attach to the siding on the house too! There is a pine tree about 75 feet tall that has been completely taken over by them too. I tried a weed killer but it didn't work so I need to know what it is called in order to get the right killer. I live in NH...

First, before using the weed killer, did you dig, or till any of it up? You have to get to the root in order to kill it. That is crazy. Have you taken it to a specialty garden shop? Not Lowe's or Home Depot, but, to a SPECIALTY store. Let me know what you find out.

If you live in a rural area, a goat is the best weed killer you can have. They will clear property to inches below the top soil...HA! In fact, there is a businessman here in our area...a suburb of Atlanta...that has goats for rent for the purpose of clearing land! Get info on how to house a goat and then tie him in the area you want cleared. A couple do even better. And goats can be adorable pets!

LOL We aren't even allowed to have dogs here. I don't think that I could hide goats:)

Can you post a closer photo?

@Douglas Hunt Are these better? They grow straight up out of the ground then they attach to anything and everything! Some are 75 feet high...

I don't know what it is, but you could try vinegar, salt and a little liquid soap to kill it. Spray directly on the plant in heat of day, if possible. It doesn't look like anything we have around here in Tx but we do have bind weed and a few other nasty thorny ones! Don't always reach for poison first! We have to save our bees!

Well, I called the UNH Cooperative Extension and they identified it as Bittersweet. They are very invasive. They said I need to cut them to the ground and then use a sponge paint brush to apply Roundup to each one! There are hundreds of them! This is going to be quite a project... Thanks everyone for your help:)

@Kym Bittersweet is a huge problem in the northeast. The cut and paint method is the way to go.

Rip them down out of your trees. I am from Canada and they were in my bush and killing my Maple Trees! Looks and sounds like the same weed. I ripped them down and dug up the root and poured round up where the root was dug out incase any left. I call it the devil weed but here in Canada it's called wild grapevine. The female vine has the grape like fruit on it and the male none . I made grapevine trees with what I pulled down and saved my trees!
