How can I remove carpet & glue (easily) from concrete on a porch?

The carpet was already there years before I moved in to the home.

ehow recommends using boiling hot water to soften the glue then use a scrapper or garden hoe to scrape up the glue. http://www.ehow.com/how_5050000_remove-carpet-glue-concrete-floor.html

When we purchased our house we were thrilled to find brick under astro turf on our back patio. We tried & tried to get off unbelievable amounts of glue & liquid nails. Finally one day hubby was working on the pool when he had a thought that actually worked... Muratic Acid. It's certainly not the safest chemical to work with but it's fine if you are cautious. He got decked out in steel toe rubber boots, eye protection, the kind of gloves used in furniture stripping, & a respirator mask. When you slowly pour it on it starts to smoke but let it work for a few minutes then scrape with a garden spade. It's lots of work but we finally got down to the brick in all but one small area that we simply cover with an area rug.
