Installing bead board

I would like to install bead board in my bathroom. My baseboards are about 3 inches tall with a decorative molding on top. Will I have to remove the baseboard in order to install the bead board?

Yes. But since bathrooms are small, you might want to put in new or different baseboard. Depending on the style you are going for, the craftsman cottage straight planks look great! Please notice the small dowel type accent we put in the corners to eliminate having to miter molding. These come in different sizes and heights. We cut ours down a little because this was a small half bath. You can use this with any kind of molding...even baseboards! We used flat molding around the walls. Beadboard on bottom and textured paint on top because I did not want sheetrock sanding in my air ducts! Be sure and tape plastic over ducts if sanding.

@Jeanette S Have you had any problems with the beadboard in the bathroom setting? I'm concerned the humidity will loosen the glue, or drip down behind and cause mold issues if I did it in our bathroom. How did you prep to prevent this? Did you use standard wood beadboard or paneling sheets? It's gorgeous, just the look I want for my bath, but tips from someone who's been living with it for a year or more will be helpful :) Thanks in advance!

We did not use this in a full bath, only a half bath downstairs so I cannot answer your questions. We used finishing nails and then put a chair rail up at the top and then caulked the nails in the board before we painted. Pose this question on HT for some answers. Good luck!
