Poison Ivy - Friend or Foe?

Well, foe of course!
I spent the better part of my childhood running around in the woods.
Not that I was raised by a pack of wolves or anything (although in my teenage years I may have thought otherwise). Just your normal climbing trees. Fishing. Camping. You name it.
My brother used to get poison ivy all the time. But I managed to stay poison ivy free.
Of course, I used to sort of brag about being far superior to my brother. Like I was above all that silly poison ivy stuff and all that.
Then all of a sudden, when we moved into this house ten years ago, I started to be affected by it. Oh, no!
It's pretty much unavoidable around my house, so I came up with some TIPS TO KEEP FROM GETTING POISON IVY:
FULL DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR AVOIDING, TREATING AND DEALING WITH POISON IVY CAN BE FOUND ON THE BLOG.
My little visual tool for how to identify poison ivy. "Leaves Of Three, Let It Be", plus much more. (Amazingly I did not actually get poison ivy from setting up this photo :)
My property is just crawling with this stuff. It's pretty hard to avoid it.

If you have poison ivy in the yard, chances are you also have plantain.... If you do break out, the juices from the leaves of this weed are AMAZING! Don't bother with the "poultice" they describe. Just rub the leaf on your skin until it starts to break down and the juices come out. http://wellnessmama.com/5387/plantain-healing-herb/

I actually moved a couple of the plants to my flower bed to make sure I'd always have them! I can't believe more people don't seem to know about this. I mean seriously....almost immediate and complete relief for FREE!

Zanfel is a product you can use before yard work to prevent poison ivy, you wash with it after yard work to prevent poison ivy. It can be used on tools as well. Also remember you get poison ivy from the oil of the plant and it is active year round in all climates.
