I really wanted an authentic vintage subway/bus sign to hang in the entryway of my home, but the price of them was out of my budget, especially since I wasn't 100% sure I would like the way it looked once hanging in the space. Instead, I created my own for just $3 and using dates and places that were meaningful to my family! I created a list of places and dates that represented our family and then printed the art for only $3 at Staples.com. I then glued the print to foam core and mounted the foam core on some linen I had stretched to the back of a poster frame and ta-da! Instant subway art! While I am done with the art, I'm not yet done with decorating the space in the entry. In fact, I've since moved the fiddleleaf fig tree in the picture below and replaced it with a shoe basket. The entire space is a constant work-in-progress but I'm happy to finally have the previously large, empty wall filled.
A close-up of one of the $3 prints mounted on foam core and adhered to a linen backing.
The view from the front door down the hallway and into the kitchen.
