Entryway Ideas: How to Create an Entryway in a Studio With Bookcases

When I moved into my 450 ft2 NYC studio apartment, I needed to find a solution to create an entryway, and at the same time create a separate bedroom area. Using Ikea Billy bookcases as a temporary dividing wall turned out to be the perfect solution. The trick to make this work was to add grasscloth on the back of the bookcases and adding hooks on the entryway side for coats. The bookcase room divider not only provides a separation for the bedroom area, it also gives extra storage, which is at such a premium in a tiny studio apartment!

Brilliant idea, and I love the decor you put on the bookcase (facing the bed). It is functional yet fashionable at the same time. Love it!!

Very nice idea, with bookcases facing both directions. Great functionality.
