DIY // Old Window Frame Chalkboard

$20
2 Days
Ever wondered what to use your old window frames for? Why not transform it into a ChalkBoard!
I needed an organizer/planner/chalkboard that was easy to access and rewritable. I had an old window frame that was just sitting in the garage, which was basically screaming at me to be re-used! So, a few weekend's ago I got me some Birch ply-wood and started with the transformation, enjoy!

Paint your window, with 2 coats of Annie Sloan Paint and finish it with clear wax. Cut the wood panel to fit your window openings.

I used the rust-oleum ChalkBoard Paint from HomeDepot, and coated the wooden panels with two light coats.

After everything was dry (min. of 8 hours) I used a all purpose glue to attache the wood panels.

To hang the frame I nailed a rope to each side (most old frames have this opening).

Next, was to find the stud and attaching a hook.

All done!

I purchased the frame for $5 at a antique mall, paint, brush and rope was about $15.

you can use old window frames to make minigreenhouses, paint pictures on the glass, put them into stair railings, take the glass out and put screenwire in to hang jewelry, and to display artwork, or fabric artwork, too. You can also use them to make shadowbox coffeetable/endtable hinged tops.
