@Shari Veater Should only irritate the bunnies so they will not come back for more. Will not effect plants. Just make sure to not spray within a few weeks of harvest and to wash well before eating.

Maybe sprinkle human hair from a beauty parlor around your garden???Or some of the Pet No-Chew Spray from the petsupply places.Or install finemeshwire from the boards down below ground level to keep Peter Cottontail out.I have also heard of leaving an old cheap radio on will help.

Maybe you can add a BEAGLE to your pet collection. They love rabbits and are such a COOL animal!
  • A fence works better and will be cost effective and a bit more human than pepper spray which can hurt their noses. Pet sprays work but have to be re-applied. Or let the cat loose. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs that go in and out and no critters LOL

put up a short sturdy fence, that's the best way

Make sure the chicken wire is buried below your fence. The bunnies will burrow underneath if you don't. 6-8 inches should be good.
  • I've sprinkled bloodmeal around my plants with good results. Both bunnies and dear do not like it. Just get a bag at the nursery.

Thank you all! This bunny picked the wrong garden to have its meals!!

If you bury the fence I think you will thwart the rabbit.

We did just that last night! I bought a roll of 1 inch chicken wire, hubby dug a trench around the garden fence and we secured it with tire wire and filled the trench in. Alot work for one small bunny!!

Pest Ridder Natural used kitty litter can be used as a deterrent for some of the larger garden pests, supposedly even deer, but especially rabbits. I don't have a problem with deer. It apparently works at least for some weeks, or several rains, and if you've still got some determined pests, alternate with other strong smelling deterrents like crushed lavender stems, garlic spray or oil, or chilli/pepper. Spread or trickle a layer of kitty litter around the garden edge, or plants you want to protect. Remember with kitty litter to remove solid matter and always wash hands thoroughly. If possible remove when usefulness is over and put in compost to degrade safely.
