My Kitchen Bench Got a New Life With Paint

The 2 Seasons
by The 2 Seasons
This bench was one of the first pieces of furniture we purchased many years ago as newlyweds. We thought about getting rid of it several times, but the sentimental factor held us back. It needed a new look, and so, I painted it with navy blue paint.
After giving it two coats of paint, I sanded it in spots that I thought would wear down with normal use. Then I added a stained wax to it to add some depth to the paint's color and to add a sealer.
It has had this painted finish for about 10 years, but it didn't go with anything else in the room. It was definitely time for a change, but my friends kept telling me it looked fine this way. I should have ignored them.
The cow in the painting is named Lulubelle, and she is our kitchen goddess. The paint matches her blue eyes perfectly. She definitely approves of the change, and we do, too.
Now that the scruffy green bench is now dark blue, it looks so much better in our kitchen.
