Factors to Consider before You Start Looking for Siding Contractors
The exterior appearance of your home plays a very important role in your property’s real estate value. However, when it comes to selecting the best type of siding for a house, many homeowners get overwhelmed by the numerous options they have to choose from. But, the biggest competition is between stucco and vinyl siding. Both are very popular options and come with numerous benefits. However, there are also several differences between these two. Here are some factors to consider before you start interviewing siding contractors.
Appearance
Vinyl and stucco have diametrically opposed appearances. Stucco is three-dimensional, irregular, and unique, while vinyl siding is made of rigid geometric panels that are bend and lined up accurately against the side of the home. Both vinyl and stucco can be colored to match the home’s architecture.

  • Another thing to consider about Stucco is resale. While it has lots of great benefits, Resale is not one of them. Buyers are often leery of stucco homes because of the hidden issues of trapped moisture, rot and mold. In fact with some types of stucco, EIFS, many home relocation companies will not purchase them and many insurance companies will not insure the house with it on. Stucco has its place on homes, but ideally mixed with other types of siding.
