It's a "Toile" World Afterall

Hey Hometalkers! Heather here from the blog Heathered Nest. I was shopping for a settee for our guest room. Here's who I found. This little nugget...like, pure GOLD nugget. As in, "I'm so fancy, can't you taste this gold?"
And that was EXACTLY the problem. This poor little gem was WAAAY too gold...not only could you taste it, you kinda were choking on it and wanting to spit it back out. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure some would find her lovely just the way she was...
but I felt she could use a little cosmetic surgery. First, she got a paint job. The gold base was actually perfect. I used chalk paint, and a high grit sandpaper to reveal some of the gold under the white paint. Then she got a couple coats of clear wax, some new fabric and voila!

Now she's a classic beauty!
Our guest room is reaching for a pastoral, rustic glam appeal, and toile was just another way to bring in that classy country feel. Coupled with some flow blue plates inherited from family, and other rustic elements, like the barn board ceiling, I think this toile settee really sets the room off and helps the space really work.
