New Stairs

We replaced our stairs because of rot, unfortunately. The new stairs gave me an opportunity to do something really creative in my home. I'm an artist living in a dome house so I have all different colors in my decor. All the colors in the mural can be found in my home. I ordered a mural and then cut it according to the size of the stairs and then wallpaper pasted it on the risers.

My husband's beautiful handiwork! And a blank canvas to work with!

This is the rot. We live on the side of a mountain and the moisture from the crawl space and the unsealed concrete blocks did this. Ugh!

The mural came from magicmurals.com. I was able to have them cut the mural down to the width I needed. It's a great online store!

Here you can see that I used a dark teal paint on the steps and light gold paint on the walls. We also put a clear edging on the stairs so that the paper wouldn't get damaged.

And that's it! It looks so colorful and we love it!

  • Valspar Classic Teal   (Lowes)

Love this!! Where did you get the clear edging to protect the paper? I’ve looked at Lowes but maybe not in the right area. Also at our local hardware store.

would clear coat polyethylene wreck the paper?
