Chautauqua Modern Home

South Cypress
by South Cypress
After 28 years, Julie & Bruce's home didn't fit their needs any longer. They wavered between renovating their current home or building a new home. They eventually decided to build, and this created the perfect opportunity to get back to their roots.
Project Type: New Construction
Time Frame: 6.5 Months (Home)
Project Size: 30 SF (Backsplash)
Rooms: Kitchen, Bath
The home was designed with an open layout, large windows, clean finishes, and neutral colors. The kitchen was crafted with a Glass Mosaic Tile and Recycled Countertops. They also built and designed their home so their children could come back and enjoy the home with their children.
To learn more about Julie's project, we asked her a few questions:
What was you design inspiration? "We looked at many designs & revamped plans often; the end result predicated on size of area and maximum need for storage."
What were your color influences for the project? "Darker cabinets in the kitchen due to the amount of light in the living space; lighter ones would get lost in the sunlight. The cabinets & backsplash complimented the neutral counter tops and stone."
Lastly, do you have any design or project tips? "Be flexible! Unless funds are unlimited, compromise is necessary; pick one focal point you love and work around it. In our kitchen, the glass tiles are the statement piece!"
