Bugs

Anyone know what kind of bugs these are? Been in a little clump on my tree for a week or so. When one moves they all move. They are getting bigger. Any ideas?

I am not positive, but they look like the babies that turn into those giant 2-3" locusts like things we get in the south. They look innocent enough when small but can eat your whole garden in 2 days as adults. I am not an expert!

Ok I have found these on line and they are not cicadas or locust.these are adult tree lice or tree cattle. they move together like a herd of cows ! they are beneficial to trees and the article said not to destroy them , leave them alone. they are kinda fasinating the way they all move in unison. they are about a 1/4 inch long.
