Make Your Own Apple Chips (and ACV!)

My kids love dehydrated fruit but I don't love paying health food store prices for it. Problem solved, I learned how to make my own apple chips - a family favorite!
A dehydrator makes this job easier but you can also do it in your oven on its lowest setting. Whatever apples don't pass muster for apple chips, you can turn into apple sauce or, if they're truly nasty, compost them. If the leftover aren't too yucky, you can also feed them to your chickens and pigs and goats and...you get the picture.
It helps to have an adorable assistant and an apple corer/peeler. These gadgets are around $25 (up ten bucks from when I bought this one when I was married) and are a worthwhile investment for anyone who processes apples for any project. They're so fast!
You can use any kind of apple and the steps are easy peasy - even your kiddos can help out with this one! As for making ACV - well, that's a little tip we saved for the end. Don't know what ACV is - well, just click on through to the post!
