This is beautiful! Can Wisteria be grown anywhere (Michigan)?

yes, I believe wisteria will grow in Michigan. It is a rather slow grower, and needs a very sturdy, heavy duty structure to hold it. Believe it can get up to 35ft, and has a woody vine that continues to grow.

So pretty! To anyone inspired by this, you can get Wisteria trees too...in white and violet if you're in zones 5-8.

I have one that I'm growing as a bush away from the house because I don't want it vining up the house. They'll grow straight up and into the rafters if you let them. I was so looking forward to it blooming this year and wouldn't you know the Deer ate each and every one of the flower buds :( There's always next year I suppose.

Leida I wish I lived in Florida...I love the plant life you have in the South. And you can ...»

grow so many things year round. Being a gardener I would be in Heaven! The only thing we have living for 6 months out of the year are Evergreens...boring...(yawn) and let's not get started about the cold!

Marg, I love that you have one of these. They sure are good looking plants.

Me coming from NY, know EXACTLY what you mean. Yes, here, in Florida one does have much, much more time in a calendar year to dedicate to our plants in comparison to N.Y. Also, here, we have lots of more plants varieties to pick, and choose for our weather, but do you know that it is also very difficult to have a nice garden here ??? It actually is because it hardly rains here, we have ...»

water restrictions all the times, the soil is not the best because it is very sandy, and the winters (believe it, or not) kill mostly everything because they are kind of HARSH for the plants. Now, yes there are lots of people with BEAUTIFUL gardens, but that is a constant struggle. I have lots of beautiful plants, but as I said before it is not EASY. Lol!!! I Have an album on FaceBook of my different plants. I wish you could see it.

hey! I didn't know you were from NY!!! what part? I love that!! Ok, I guess I will agree that we all have our issues in the garden LOL. I look at alot of the plants in our greenhouse at work and think "wow, they grow these outdoors in Florida!" love it....but also, some of my family is in Fla. and I miss them so....I lived in SC for a couple of years and I love the south. Hubby would rather move to Maine than Florida so it will be a long time before I can convince him it's best to go south ;)

I have a Wisteria bush on the side of my house and it's growing up and over the railing. We trim it often to keep it from going crazy with vines....

When it's in full bloom....it's breath taking and the fragrance when you walk outside is wonderful. I can't imagine Wisteria bushes and trees taking over the yard.....I'm sure you'd smell it's perfume for miles away!

I am awestruck by this picture. I would love to print this out, frame it, and put in my bathroom, which is white and lavender.
