Easy Organic Weed Control With Paper & Mulch

Using paper and covering it with mulch is my favorite way to control weeds in our beds and borders. Besides just controlling weeds, I also love this because:
-We just do it once and we’re done for the year
-It compounds over time
-It enriches the soil and feeds the plants
-It helps keep the soil moist during the summer months
-I love how it looks
It's also easy, we can cover small weeds without have to pull them all and this technique reuses paper!
It's such a great feeling when we finish a flower border - it looks great and we can enjoy it through the rest of the summer.
This shows how nice the mulch makes a border look - the right side has been done, the side left of the path still needs it's layers.
We love this so much, we created a how-to video to share with you all the tips and tricks we've learned about this through the years.

We have been doing this in our vegetable garden with our plants for several years. Instead of mulch I use leaves or grass clippings. Works great.
