We had this problem when we pulled up the carpets in our house years ago. We sanded and refinished and the stain still shows, just faded. It doesn't look bad at all.
  • You will have to sand the floors and hope that it was not a continual habit that soaked through to the subfloor. I have seen the subfloor rotted under the black of pet urine on hardwood floors. It was a nightmare for my neighbor after they rented their house out. good luck!

Has anyone heard of using bleach? It's one spot that was under the carpet I thought I caught the dog but missed it. LOL!

Thank you All very much for your help.
  • There is bleaching chemicals for wood that can lighten the dark stain, but its doubtful depending upon the age and depth that the liquids that did the staining if it would work. This will require the floor however to be sanded throughout then refinished after the bleaching process.
