Steampunk Dragonfly Industrial Art by Randy and Me
by
Kelly
(IC: homeowner)
After purchasing the hornet (in an earlier post) from Bart's Nuts and Bolts, my husband and I were inspired to design and create another creature for the industrial theme that we have going on. Between the two of us (though my husband did all the hard work i.e. pipe fitting, cutting, and welding) we came up with a beautiful design and he is officially a member of our home now.
We put him on the front of our closed in porch near the iron flowers.
He is just about the right size ... giant!
As you can see, the head and body parts are made from rigid pipe and connectors with the T being the head. He welded nuts at an angle for the eyes, giant 6 inch nails for legs, and galvanized security mesh for the wings. We added a splash of color onto various parts of the body and wings.
