I purchased several tin crown molding sections from an old general store in Ohio that was being torn down. It stayed in storage for a couple of years after we moved.
While redecorating our dining room I decided the hubs needed to make a shelf using one of my pieces of the tin molding. This is the shelf that we created.
For the end pieces he made a plywood template, then cut them from 1x8 pine.

The shelf is also 1x8 pine. The back has horizontal & vertical 1x3 strips.
After the shelf was made, the tin was attached by bending the edges. We found some small tacks that fit perfectly in the holes already in the tin.
I loved the original chipped paint & rusty tin, but the rusty areas were flaking. I ended up removing most of the old paint & mixing a paint that was close to the original color. After painting it was sanded, glazed, & waxed. It is one of my favorite pieces that we have re-purposed. FYI: The candlesticks were made from an old floor lamp someone had thrown away.

Molding just like yours awhile back to re-do my kitchen ceiling w/it, decided not too. Have no idea what to charge for each piece of ceiling tin or Molding hence it was almost "given" to me by friends that had it in storage...if I'm not going to use it, I have no idea what to do with this many ceiling tins plus the molding or what to charge if I sell? Any ideas on either??
