Lavender Ombre File Cabinet

This old file cabinet was a craigslist score. A fossil collector had been using it and the drawers were all in top shape. I spent some time cleaning it up and then started in with a wire brush to scrape the paint off the hardware. Next was the painting: Annie Sloan chalk paint works on just about EVERYthing so I just gave the drawers and the outside 2 coats of paint. I started with 3 colors (Henrietta, Emile, and Old White) and and mixed them incrementally to get the correct ombre. I wanted the file cabinet to feel a little more 'formal' so I made a quick base and stained it to match the floor. This is my favorite part of our new lavender dining room. And I NEVER thought I'd be a fan of lavender!
I snagged this file cabinet from Craigslist from a fossil collector.

Because the file cabinet sat flat on the ground it looked like, well... a file cabinet. So I made a quick base so that it could sit up a few inches from the floor.

These cabinets are so useful! I salvaged 2 of them from my father's old office, I can't wait to get them painted, I hope they turn out as well as yours did!

I have been looking for an old library card file or an old office file like yours. I love yours!!! I would like to pin it to my other old file cabinets... Thank you for sharing your talent.. Sincerely, @Mary
