This diy white picket fence gate was the solution to my problems of wanting a stylish looking gate, that was affordable, and was going to keep my kids and dog safe in the backyard. It was a labor of love, but am so excited with how it turned out.
We used pressure treated lumber and pre made picket fencing to make the two gates.
We reinforced the backs of the gate by screwing 2 x 4's to give it a more sturdy feel. Otherwise the gate felt flimsy.
Used black hardware to give this gate a classy look.
On the other side of the house we installed one of the posts under brick floor tiles
There was a gap between our neighbor's fence and our gate, so this was our solution to filling in the gap.
We had this gate have two swinging doors so we could accommodate larger items coming in and out of the backyard like: lawn mower, toys, trailer, and etc.
We added a wheel to the gate so it has a nice glide when opening and closing it.

Good job. The gate int eh top picture has the brace running the wrong way and will lead to sagging.
